The film's events are based on the last part of the novel "Al-Harafish" by the writer Naguib Mahfouz. In the old Cairo area, in the era of bullies and thugs, the bully Hassouna Al-Sabaa (Hamdi Ghaith) imposes large fees on the people of the neighborhood and goes to extremes in oppressing and humiliating them. Hassouna oppresses the family of Ashour Al-Naji (Ezzat Al-Alaili), whose circumstances fluctuate between wealth and extreme poverty.
